Bree says that she has struggled with addiction throughout her life – doing meth, smoking weed, and drinking – and that her now 11-year-old son has been “right beside” her the entire time. She says she has now been clean for a year.

“JJ never witnessed me doing drugs,” Bree says. “I used to think that because I was behind a closed door that I was keeping him from it, but that wasn’t the case.”
Bree’s mom, Mary, says Bree and JJ lived out of her car and in drug houses. “JJ was exposed to a lot of dangerous things,” she says.
