Mother Explains Leaving With 4-Year-Old Daughter & Why She Hasn’t Seen The Child Since Being Acquitted Of Kidnapping

          June 8, 2016

Laura claims she took her 4-year-old daughter and traveled cross-country from their home in Pennsylvania to protect herself and her child from her estranged husband, Joe.

While Joe insists Laura had made threats about harming herself and their daughter, Laura claims Joe is the one who had been abusive and even threatened to kill her and his child – claims which Joe denies.

“Joe has repeatedly told me that he was going to kill me. He had threatened me with obtaining a gun from his father,” Laura claims. “With the violence increasing, we fled. The only thing I could think of was putting distance between us.”

Laura was eventually arrested in Utah, when U.S. Marshals located her at a gas station with her daughter in the car. She was charged with multiple counts of kidnapping and interference of custody; however, after two days of trial, she was acquitted of all charges.

Following her acquittal, Laura says she anticipated being reunited with her daughter – but that was not the case.

“I had every expectation of being able to see my daughter again after I was found not guilty. Instead it was nothing but a wall of resistance,” Laura claims.

Four years later, and Laura says she has yet to see her daughter again, due to Joe.

“Joe has done nothing but obstruct and harm the relationship between my daughter and I,” she contends.

Joe, however, says although Laura was granted visitation, he is fearful of allowing their daughter to see her mother again.

“One of my fears is that if Laura had any kind of visitation to my daughter, she would just take off again,” Joe says. “I never want to lose my daughter again. I’m not going to let that happen.”

Laura, on the other hand, says she continues to fear for her daughter’s safety, especially now that she’s speaking out with accusations against her husband.

“I am terrified with coming forward, he is going to become vindictive and then he’s going to harm our daughter – that he’ll kill her,” she claims.
