Sixteen years ago, Lauren was rescued from a dark, urine-soaked closet where
her parents had kept her locked away from the rest of the world, while they beat, terrorized and abused her from the ages of 2-8. Since then, the now 23-year-old has struggled with the aftermath of her ordeal – but the road hasn’t been easy.
Lauren admits that while she has had some triumphs – like graduating from college and finding a relationship –
she has also struggled to overcome substance abuse, severe depression, and multiple suicide attempts.
