Chris Vaughn was convicted of murdering his wife and three children and is now serving four life sentences behind bars. His wife was shot one time under her chin, and the children were each shot twice, all while sitting in the family’s SUV that was pulled over on the side of the road.
Bill Clutter has been investigating the case since 2007 and says he’s never stopped searching for the truth. He claims a recent letter Chris sent to his parents may hold the key to proving Chris’ innocence.

In the video above, hear how Clutter says he was able to piece together a theory after reading what Chris wrote. And, criminal defense attorney Jed Stone shares why he believes Chris deserves a new trial.
On Monday’s episode of Dr. Phil, “Murder in the Suburbs,” Vaughn’s parents appear in their first television interview and explain why they believe their son is innocent. And on Tuesday, “Murder in the Suburbs: Inside the SUV,” Clutter does a reenactment of the crime scene based on Vaughn’s allegations in a letter Vaughn wrote that he claims show Vaughn didn’t murder his family. Plus, hear from the former Assistant State’s attorney who believes Chris is right where he belongs. Check local listings to see where you can watch.
