It’s been almost seven years since Rebecca Zahau was found dead at her boyfriend’s California mansion. The 32-year-old was found naked with her hands and feet bound hanging from a balcony. Her boyfriend’s brother, Adam Shacknai, who was staying in a guest house on the property, found Zahau and reportedly performed CPR while calling 911.

After a seven-week investigation, police determined that Zahau died by suicide, they claim, distraught over serious injuries, including brain damage, that her boyfriend’s son suffered while in her care just days prior.

Zahau’s family insists she would never take her own life. They claim she was murdered by Adam and were determined to take him to court. After having Zahau’s body exhumed three months after she was buried and performing a second autopsy, the family says they believed there was enough evidence to prove Adam was responsible for her death.
