Gaby says she was employed as a medical assistant at UCLA when she made an appointment with OB-GYN and oncologist Dr. James Heaps.

“This doctor was highly recommended. He’s the best of the best,” Gaby says she was told.

However, Gaby says her experience with Dr. Heaps was traumatizing. “What I went through was horrible. He used an ultrasound device and just did wrong things to where I was bleeding, and he said it was normal,” Gaby claims.

In 2019, Dr. Heaps was arrested and charged with sexual battery by fraud and sexual exploitation. On October 20, 2022, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced that Dr. Heaps was found guilty and convicted of three counts of sexual battery by fraud and two counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious person. Although the former doctor was acquitted of seven other charges, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on nine other counts. According to Dr. Heaps’ legal team, he continues to maintain his innocence and plans to appeal his conviction.
