For the last three years, Jessy admits she’s been chasing fame and fortune on social media. The 21-year-old says after a social media feud went viral, her followers increased and since then, she’s been doing whatever it takes to see her numbers rise, including creating prank videos to shock people. Jessy says the high number of followers brings her fame, free things, invites to parties and hookups with “hot” guys. That’s why she says she was almost suicidal when her Instagram account was temporarily deactivated.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Has your teen been overly influenced by social media?

Life Coach and New York Times best-selling author of Best Self: Be You, Only Better, Mike Bayer, offers Jessy insight as to why she may be so consumed with getting “likes” and followers.
“There’s healthy self-centeredness and there’s toxic self-centeredness, and what we have here is someone who’s getting their worth, feeling the love by just getting attention. She just wants attention,” Coach Mike says. He explains his seven spheres principle and where he thinks she needs to start making changes.
