Shopper Seen In Viral Video Defending Her Decision To Go Maskless Insists, ‘I Am Not A ‘Karen’’
In June 2020, Sandrella claims she was confronted by another shopper at her local supermarket for not wearing a mask. Sandrella claims she received permission from the store manager to do her marketing without a face covering, despite a state mandate requiring them. The incident in which Sandrella is seen arguing with grocery store employees and other shoppers was recorded, then uploaded to social media. The video went viral with over 15 million views.
“Here I am, surrounded by all these people mocking me – calling me ‘Karen,’” says Sandrella, who claims she has a medical condition that prevents her from wearing a mask. “I am not a ‘Karen.’ ‘Karens’ are people that judge others. I was not the one judging them.”
