The Cycle Of Violence Explained
Laura claims that her daughter, Rebecca’s, boyfriend, Dominick, is controlling, verbally abusive, isolates her and has hit Rebecca at least four times. Dominick blames his behavior on a brain lesion, but Laura says that’s just an excuse.
Rebecca, who says that Dominick is the love of her life, admits that he has both hit her and verbally abused her.
“What you’re describing is a cycle of violence,” says Dr. Phil, who, along with his wife, Robin, breaks down each phase of the sequence.

“It tends to get worse, not better, he concludes.
