On January 14, 2018, police arrived at the home of Louise and David Turpin where they say they found deplorable conditions. In what some are calling the “California House of Horrors,” police say the Turpins’ 13 children were starved, tortured and chained to their beds. Neighbors say they rarely saw the children, but when they did, they were pale, frightened and extremely thin. It has been reported that the children, ages 2-29, were not allowed to use the bathroom, could only shower one time a year and were not allowed to wash their hands above the wrists.
