Alana says she and her daughter, Nicole, have always been close, but claims that changed when Nicole married Danny.

She says Danny competes with her for Nicole’s time and doesn’t want her to do anything with her granddaughter unless he does it first. “He’s the most competitive person in the world, that I know,” says Alana.
“I think it’s a good thing - as a father - to want to do things with your child,” says Danny, noting he’s a first-time dad. “I didn’t know what to expect, being a father, and I love it more than anything in the world.” Danny claims Alana has a “sick dependency” on Nicole and monopolizes her time at the expense of their family, which she denies.
“this bickering - this fighting: it needs to stop,” says Nicole. Saying she realizes that her mother may be “overly dependent” on her, She adds, “I think that the relationship that she refers to - from before I was married - is in reference to a younger person who, being me, did not have Responsibilities such as marriage or children, and I understand that she wants me there with her - but I do have other responsibilities.”
Saying she’s torn between her mother and her husband, Nicole admits she visits Alana - who lives an hour away - four times a week; because, Nicole claims “she will tell me if I don’t go there, that she hasn’t eaten in days.”
What reason does Alana give for not eating; and why does Danny claim his mother-in-law is a “faker?” Tune in to Wednesday’s Dr. Phil.
