Hunter and Angie say their ongoing struggles with their 15-year-old son, Rivers, have put a strain on their marriage. The couple claims he calls them names, refuses to go to school, and acts out violently; intimidating them, and putting their younger children at risk.

“This kid is so entitled, it’s incredible,” says Dr. Phil to the parents. He recommends they take a chapter from his book, “Family First: Your Step-by-Step Plan for Creating a Phenomenal Family” and adopt Commando Parenting to bring about a constructive change for their teen and their family.

He also makes a referral for Rivers to Turn-About-Ranch, an adolescent treatment center with a focus on instilling positive emotional and behavioral change.

“It combines therapy, academics, and hard work, to achieve really powerful results,” says Dr. Phil. “And the students learn leadership and teamwork and accountability and responsibility.”
