He says that if a person finds themselves in a spiral of dysfunction and have difficulty changing their path, he or she should turn inward.

“The first house you’ve got to clean is your own,” Dr. Phil says. “The only person you control is you. So, you’ve got to stop and say, ‘What can I do to stop contributing to the chaos? What can I do to start being part of the solution instead of part of the problem?’”
