Today’s Takeaway: Being A Parent Is Not A ‘God-Given Right’

          October 19, 2018

LiAnne admits she’s made some mistakes in her life, but says that was no reason for her mother, Debra, to “go behind her back and steal guardianship” of her children from her. She claims it’s her “God-given right,” to parent her children, and she wants Debra to give them back.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Bad mother/daughter relationship?

A former addict, LiAnne claims she’s been sober three years and has been doing everything in her power to show her mother that’s she changed.

But Debra says she hasn’t changed. She claims LiAnne’s girlfriend, Shemelia, has a history of domestic abuse with LiAnne and has her daughter “completely brainwashed.”

“No court is going to restore your unsupervised visitation, let alone your reunification with these children when you’re in a relationship with someone who has a history of domestic violence – with you,” Dr. Phil tells LiAnne in the video above.

In Today’s Takeaway Dr. Phil reminds viewers why being a parent is a privilege, not a “God-given right.”
