Today’s Takeaway: It’s Never Too Late To Re-Parent A Child

          August 17, 2018

“As parents, our job is to prepare our children for the next level of life,” Dr. Phil says.

He explains that teaching children how to succeed is an ongoing process and changes as they move forward into different stages of life.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Problems with your teen?

In the video above, Dr. Phil shares how a weekly meeting he had with his son, Jordan, helped to teach Jordan about how the world works.

On Friday’s episode, Nina admits that she has spoiled her 15-year-old daughter, Nicolette, her entire life. She admits to letting Nicolette charge thousands of dollars on her own credit card and giving her anything she wanted – mostly out of guilt from being a single mom and working six days a week. She says when she lowered her daughter’s allowance to $1,000 a month, the teen had a fit.

Nicolette, who says she refuses to get a job, says her mom owes it to her to continue her lavish lifestyle because that’s all she knows.

Dr. Phil explains to Nina that it’s time to change her relationship with her daughter and re-parent to help prepare Nicolette to be independent and live in the world.

“It’s not over,” he tells Nina. “It’s never too late.”
