          October 18, 2018

“White privilege,” a term that is often heard on the news and has sparked debates throughout the country, is defined as the inherent advantages possessed by a white person on the basis of their race in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice.

“The main thing to understand about ‘white privilege’ is it’s not an indictment of an individual; it’s just an observation of a social structure,” Dr. Phil says in the video above from after the show. “It’s an inherent reality, and it doesn’t mean that as a white person that you should feel guilt, or shame, or some kind of blame. It just means that there is a structure in our society that reflects a racial injustice.”
