‘What Are You So Afraid Of?’ Dr. Phil Asks Teen Who Acts Out In Anger

          September 4, 2018

Gracie says she and her mom argue and yell at each other every day. The 15-year-old admits that she has called her mom names and hit her stepdad in the face – but says her mom provokes her and once she gets angry, she can’t stop.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Bad mother/daughter relationship?

Dr. Phil drills down to determine what’s causing the teen to act out.

“What are you so afraid of?” Dr. Phil asks the teen.

          “I’m not afraid,” she replies.

“That’s not true,” Dr. Phil says. “You’re never weaker, you’re never more a victim than when you’re angry. Because you have to understand, anger is a reaction to being victimized.”

In the video above, Gracie explains how she was victimized and how her mom’s behavior reminds her of the traumatic event.

On Tuesday’s episode, Dr. Phil offers the teen advice for getting her life back on track. Will she accept his help? Check here to see where you can watch.
