Jodee says her husband, Charlie, has filled their home, garage, two sheds, and multiple vehicles with “junk,” which he hasn’t been able to organize, refuses to get rid of, and won’t allow her to touch.

“Charlie and I fight about cleaning out the house every week,” says Jodee, admitting that she has thrown away some of Charlie’s possessions “behind his back.”

“When she’s throwing stuff away, it feels like I’m losing something,” says Charlie. “When Jodee tells me to get rid of something, I feel like she doesn’t have the same values. [It] makes me feel like she doesn’t care about my feelings.”

Charlie, who doesn’t like the word “hoarder,” calls himself a “treasure keeper.” And though he owns multiples of several items, he insists that everything he collects has either sentimental or practical value.

When Dr. Phil says, “You’ve got a lot of the same things. Do you think there will ever be a time when you would use these things?” what is Charlie’s response?

And later, Charlie admits he has too much stuff. Why does he say he can’t seem to get rid of any of it?

This episode, “Help! Our Home is One Big Storage Unit!” airs Wednesday.
