Dr. Phil refers Tessa to Turnabout Ranch in Utah, a residential program for teens struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges, but Tessa says she’s not sure it will help.
Noting that she’s been to other residential programs in the past, she says, “I tried really hard, and I was just crushed. I was just thrown back into the zoo, and the same crap happened again.”

“But I’m sending her away too,” says Dr. Phil, who has referred Theresa to a program for adults at Onsite, aimed at helping her overcome dysfunctional patterns so she can establish a healthy relationship with her daughter. “Nobody’s ever done that before, right?” he adds.
