“When it comes to reparations for American slavery, I think morally, it may be a good idea, but practically, it’s not,” says Joshua Ferguson, a political writer whose fifth great-grandfather was an abolitionist. “Reparations for slavery were a good thing 150 years ago. I think today, they’re not being used in any sort of good way. It’s not well thought out.”
