Don Wells and his wife, Candus, have searched for their daughter, Summer, for nearly five months. The 5-year-old vanished from their home in rural Tennessee on June 15, 2021. After turning to social media for the public’s help in locating Summer, the couple says they became targets of online bullies who repeatedly accused them of either killing Summer or having something to do with her disappearance. Then they began receiving threats. Soon after that, Child Protective Services removed the couple’s three sons, ages 13, 11, and 9, from their home.

“Once Summer was taken, CPS had to open a case – for our good and for the boys’ protection,” says Don, adding that he supported his children’s removal from the home at the time. “I was glad that they were not here because I was scared to death for their lives.”

Candus says she disagreed with her sons’ removal from their care, and Don says it’s time for his boys to come home.

Watch the video above to hear what Don says CPS told him he and Candus must do before their children can be returned. Then, tune in to Friday’s conclusion, “Summer Wells Disappearance: What Do the Parents Know?”
