Why Woman Blames Her Daughter For Her Granddaughter’s Behavior

          April 5, 2018

Sherrye says her 14-year-old granddaughter, Tatum, is angry, aggressive and growing up way too fast. She says the teen, whom she shares custody of and has been raising on-and-off since she was 2, used to be a happy child but is now belligerent and destructive – and Sherrye says she blames her daughter, Hallie, for Tatum’s behavior.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Know someone with outrageous behavior?

“When Tatum was younger, her mother was using drugs. Things went downhill very, very quickly,” Sherrye says. “Hallie would disappear for days at a time, and Tatum would stay with us … Hallie wanted to immediately come in and play the mother parent role, and Tatum did not like that. I don’t think Hallie can just come back and just pick up where she left off.”
