Sara says her mother, Chris, was committed involuntarily to a mental health facility for observation in the summer of 2020, after Chris disappeared into the woods for two days. She says Chris, who had no previous history of mental illness, was Baker Acted and placed in mental health facility for over two weeks.

“She would leave me voicemails about various people being in there trying to kill her,” says Sara, describing her mother’s calls as “heartbreaking.”

Recounting her experiences while in the facility, Chris, who insists she should have never been there, says, “I’m still trying to understand why my family didn’t try to get me out.”

Chris says she also wants to know how doctors had the right to Baker Act her. Does Dr. Phil have an answer for her?
