Sherry says her Nigerian husband, David, promised to move to the United States after they were married in Abuja, Nigeria, two years ago, but after multiple attempts to apply for a U.S. visa, David is still 6,000 miles away.

“Right now I’m not sure if David is sincerely planning to come to the U.S., so I’m coming to Dr. Phil because I just want to get some answers,” she says.

Sherry claims she has spent around $10,000 to help pay for David’s passport and U.S. visa applications, along with helping him with living expenses; but after his last visa turned out to be a fake, she says she wonders whether her marriage is real or if David is scamming her. David denies that he is scamming Sherry and insists that their marriage is legitimate.
