Many Americans believe the political climate these days prevents them from saying things they believe for fear of being criticized or attacked because others might find them offensive. And, some critics take it a step further and say there are problematic words and phrases that need to be removed from the vernacular.

In the video above from Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil, “You Said It … Now You’re Canceled!” Dr. Phil and his panel of guests review some of these phrases, including "Mom and Dad" and "master bedroom," and why they may be problematic. Hear from Dr. Shaun Harper, professor and founder and Executive Director of the USC Race and Equity Center, a guest who claims he was “canceled” after a video he made went viral on TikTok, and audience members.

On Tuesday, hear more of the self-censorship debate and how it’s affecting society. Check local listings to see where you can watch.
