Tammy Hatcher Scheller and her husband, Mike Scheller, say they were shocked when they learned their 17-year-old daughter, Alyssa Hatcher, plotted to have them killed. The high school senior allegedly stole more than $1,000 from their bank account to pay two different people to carry out her plan.

In an exclusive interview with Dr. Phil airing Thursday, Tammy reveals that her daughter was abused by her ex-husband, and she wasn’t aware of it until after it happened – a guilt, she says, that has overwhelmed her. Tammy admits that because of this guilt, she may not be as angry as she should be at her daughter.

“You can’t excuse this or explain it away – she tried to have you murdered,” Dr. Phil tells Tammy in the video above. “If you trivialize that, there isn’t a court in the land that is going to turn her loose into y’all’s care.”
